Jonas Jennings, a retired NFL player, with the assistance of his former teammates and pro-football friends hosted the 9th Annual Fundamentals 101 Football Camp on Saturday July 14, 2012. The free event brought out almost 500 kids eager to learn the basics and essentials of football from their role models. The camp encouraged local children between the ages of 5-18 and their families to continue to push towards their dreams in sports. “It’s important for me to be able to do this for the community that raised me” Jennings said, “There are kids here that just need to be shown they can do something bigger with their life. Every year this camp is here to encourage them to keep pushing for their dreams.”
Green Bay Packers Safety & Super Bowl Champion Morgan Burnett , Former NFL Player Allen Rossum, San Diego Chargers Linebacker Takeo Spikes, Denver Broncos Ronald Fields, Former NFL Player Marcus Stroud, Former Pro Bowl & AFC VIP Hines Ward, Indianapolis Colts Offensive Tackle George Foster, Giants Super Bowl Champion & Free Agent Deon Grant, Former NFL Player and Greene County High School Head Coach Robert Edwards and a host of other pro football players joined Jonas Jennings and the campers for a fun-filled and educational day. In addition to Football Skills 101 Camp, 15 High School Teams were selected to compete in a 7-on-7 High School Football Tournament. “I believe I can be a successful football player like Mr. Jonas and the other coaches one day” One high school student said, “ I have learned from them what it takes to reach my dream.”
