Last
Wednesday, excitement ran through San Francisco as tens of thousands of people
flooded the streets to celebrate The Giants major World Series win. Orange and
Black confetti poured from the sky as team owners, coaches and players waved at
fans from the back of convertibles, and cheered in celebration. The 49ers came
out to support the teams victory as well, as quarterback Alex Smith drove the
car carrying Giants pitcher Matt Cain and his family. Coach Jim Harbaugh was
behind the wheel of first baseman Brandon Belt's parade vehicle. On the
downside, the parade did cost the city a hefty price. Students from neighboring
schools came out to support, which costed the school district around $160,000
in their absence. The Mayor reports the Victory Parade costs at $225,000 in
total. Despite the costs, the celebration was well deserved for the Giants and
their die hard fans, who won the World Series against the Detroit Tigers
Saturday, October 27th.
